I miss you

I miss you in the porridge that I just can’t seem to get the way you make it 

I miss you in the 5 minutes before going to bed, and I have no one to be goofy with

I miss you in the goodbye hug before you leave for work

I miss you in the yelling at the TV when football is on

I miss you in the reminder that there should always be a hand towel in the bathroom

I miss you when I pick up the phone wanting to tell you a funny story

I miss you in the laughs, the cries, the hugs, the laughter, the inside jokes, the peace and the quiet. I miss you in the gestures big and small. I think I will forever miss you as a part of me, while simultaneously letting you exist in a version of myself. Always carrying both with me.
